Fortune Cookie

Contract :: user experience architect :: 2008 & 2009

< previous | next >

I spent a relatively short five weeks at Fortune Cookie during the summer of 2008, after meeting and being hugely impressed with the company's founder and MD, Justin Cooke.

Fortune Cookie were formed in the middle of the 90s, and survived the dot com crash to emerge into the greenfields of the 21st century still under single control and private ownership.

During a short but productive engagement I worked on a project for the BBC, working on site at Whte City alongside an internal BBC team, and a technical team from Siemens, to develop a web portal for the digital media initaitive (DMI). This is a massifve, hugely important project for the BBC, aiming to convert the entire BBC production process over to a digital (tapeless) way of working.

I worked at Fortune Cookie for a second time during the Spring of 2010, this time invited on-board by the then Head of User Experiencce, the very talented Claire Mitchell. For this engagement, I worked on a B2B project for AutoTrader, which involved an enjoyably intense software design project for an RIA to be authored in Silverlight.
